Volunteering

Volunteering with Frome Community Bike Project

If you’re interested in volunteering with us we have a range of roles and opportunities. There’s a lot of interest from the community which is brilliant, but it does mean we can’t always accept everyone to become a volunteer, however we do try to ensure that people get the opportunity.

We use an app called Spond to communicate with volunteers since we have a vast range of roles and interests within our volunteer team. Spond allows you to join the sub-groups that interest you and within those groups you’ll be invited to join relevant sessions and events. You can then accept or decline the invitation in the Spond mobile app or on the Spond website.

Below is an outline of our current volunteer roles and if you have an idea that isn’t there please do let us know!

  • Volunteer Mechanics
  • Retail assistants
  • Cycle instructor assistants
  • Ride leaders and assistants
  • Events team
  • Communications and marketing volunteers
  • Fundraising support
  • Accounts support

If you want to get involved then head over to the volunteer sign up page and fill in your details. Please be sure to read the information on the page carefully and look at our volunteer handbook too.

Volunteering FAQs

What do I get as a volunteer?

Along with a warm fuzzy feeling we hope that you’ll learn some valuable skills, enabling you to fix bikes, problem solve, or just straight out have fun on bike rides!
Once you’ve volunteered for over 10 hours you’ll also get 15% off any purchases you make from us too ❤️

What if I’m not around at the times you’re open?

Please just get in touch with us! While we only guarantee we’re open during our core hours, we’re very often around at other times and if there are people able to help out with opening the workshop then we can be open more – which is a good thing all round!

I don’t know how to do anything on a bike, but still want to help!

We’ve a range of roles that don’t involve lifting a spanner so if you’d like to help then please get in touch. If you’d like to know more about how to repair bikes then you can sign up for a free cycle maintenance class too.

I’ve got an idea that I think you should try out

Great! Please get in touch – email [email protected]
