About us

Frome Community Bike Project came about after a team of volunteers began organising annual bike jumbles to raise funds for Frome’s Missing Links. After four years of jumbles and many hours of tinkering with bikes we realised that there was an appetite in Frome for recycling second hand bikes alongside a gap in support for cycling. We wanted to support people to cycle more and enjoy the great outdoors using bikes. In September 2022 we ran a successful Crowdfunding campaign to help launch the project. Although the Crowdfunder is no longer live, it tells the story of how Frome Community Bike Project came to be.

Emma Parker

Jumbler extraordinaire
Emma has worked on Active Travel projects for over 13 years. She is passionate about living sustainably and working with the community to share ideas and skills. Fuelled by coffee, she can often be found rushing around Frome on foot, on a bike, or pushing one of her children on their bikes up one of Frome’s big hills.

Alex Hooper

Alex Hooper

Spanner wielder in chief
Alex is the Spanner-Man at FCBP. Apart from being an enthusiastic cyclist he is passionate about all things BIKE! Alex loves a good project and is happiest in his dungarees working on a do-er-up-er with the knowledge that a decent bike has been saved from the tip and will soon be back on the road!

James Morell

James Morell

Builder of websites
James has worked on growing the audience size and scale for many of the largest brands in cycling, from GCN and GMBN to Cycling News and BikeRadar. He has lived in Frome for seven years and cycles regularly. Though not very far. And mostly on an ebike

Marjory Hatvany

Marjory Hatvany

Queen of keyrings
Marjory has worked on projects in Frome like creating a pump track, initiating an active travel challenge in local schools, and on developing a new cycle path with Frome’s Missing Links charity. She is looking forward to spending more time riding bikes than talking about them.
